Radon Mitigation Certification

NRPP Radon Mitigation Certification is for professionals who design and install systems that reduce radon levels in homes and buildings. It confirms that the credential holder has the technical knowledge and the practical skill to put in a system that works and that meets the applicable standard.

Credentials in this discipline

You do not need to hold a measurement certification in order to certify in mitigation. They are two separate credentials for two different roles, although knowledge of one is useful in the other.

Requirements

Certification is valid for two years. Indoor Environments Association membership is not required in order to be certified.

How to apply

Keeping the credential

Every two years you renew. Renewal requires eight hours of continuing education, the Mandatory Standards Overview course, your state license where your state issues one, and signed ethics and QA/QC declarations. See Continuing Education for what counts and the category limits.

State requirements

NRPP certification is not a state license and does not grant one. Several states license radon mitigation separately and a few also require a contractor registration. Contact your state radon office before you begin working in a new state.
