NRPP certifies individuals, not companies. Each certification covers a defined scope of work and carries its own training, examination and renewal requirements. All NRPP certifications are valid for two years.
Measurement and mitigation are separate credentials for separate roles. You do not need one in order to hold the other.
There is a time limit between passing the examination and applying for certification, and a separate limit on how old an initial training course can be when you use it [confirm both limits].
Current application, examination and renewal fees are published on the fee schedule [confirm fee schedule link]. Training courses, measurement devices and device performance tests are paid for separately to the provider concerned. IEA membership is not required in order to be certified and there is no member discount.
Certifications renew every two years against eight hours of continuing education plus the Mandatory Standards Overview course, along with the state license, ethics and QA/QC requirements. See Continuing Education.
Certification shows that a person has demonstrated the knowledge and the skills required for competent practice, that they keep that knowledge current, and that they have agreed to work ethically. Some states require it. Where a state does not, it is still what a homeowner, a builder or a school district looks for when deciding who to hire.
